So yesterday I made a new friend (seen in this video, Anthony da Costa) and we covered our new favorite song “Die Young” by the incomparable Ke$ha. Thanks to Family Records and Anthony for having me be a part of this, it was really fun to learn and sing. If you like this, feel free to reblog, that’d be DOPE. Also be sure to check out Anthony’s music, he’s really great.

Hey, I know, I’ve been neglecting putting up the August EP, I know. I figured in the meantime I’d upload a demo of a “song” I wrote recently. I used to do this on my Tumblr quite a bit, it’s actually how my song “Bookmark” was born at all. So, here’s a song I kind of wrote stream of consciousness recently. It’s called “Mad Girl’s Love Song”, partly because I love Sylvia Plath, and partly because of the kind of love this song is about. You know the kind. The kind that’s bad for you. Keeps you up. Makes you want to hurt the person you care about. You deceive yourself into thinking you’re comfortable in a place that you are constantly wriggling in, trying to adjust, to fit, to trim the fat of your emotional person to stay with a poisonous significant other. Sometimes, you’re the poison. Sounds heavy for a 20 year old, well, it’s heavy for anyone. You can be any age and feel this way, depending on how you were put together. Recently I’ve had an epiphany, that “love” isn’t supposed to be so soul sucking. That’s a misconception. There’s not supposed to be so much suffering. If there is, jump ship. So here’s to airing out our demons. This isn’t a lament. It’s a realization. I’ve said too much. xo.

Mad Girl’s Love Song

When I was fifteen I felt my fist graze his lips,
And pulling inward, I hit tender, like a wound.

Burst full, bruise bloom.
Burst full, bruise bloom.

Feel it love,
Like a fantasy.
Dress it up,
like it oughta be.
Darling, darling, this surely must be the place for us.
Feel it love,
Like a fantasy.
Dress it up,
like it oughta be.
Darling, darling, this surely must be the place for us…

When I was nineteen, I killed one man in my bed,
And pulling inward, I bit tender, like a noose.

Burst full, bruise bloom.
Burst full, bruise bloom.

Feel it love,
Like a fantasy.
Dress it up,
like it oughta be.
Darling, darling, this surely must be the place for us.
Feel it love,
Like a fantasy.
Dress it up,
like it oughta be.
Darling, darling, this surely must be the place for us…
